The "Ode to the One-Based Terminal"

I spent a decade in the dark,
Subtracting C to find a spark.
A math-tax paid in logic debt,
On rows and columns, a shaky bet.

But then the truth came, clear and fast,
The "Zero-Base" was in the past!
The terminal starts at number One—
The math is clean, the work is done.

Now life it blurs, a colorful light,
Too fast for eyes, but mathematically right!
